Food is good. Always freshly cooked. People are nice. It's a small restaurant, but it's been there for many years. You can call for to go or pick up. You can tell them if there's something wrong with the taste of their cook and they will adjust it.

Ambience: 4 Simple Hoisan (Taishan/Canton) comfort food from this hole in the wall "Jade Wok" in LA Chinatown that made their own tofu. The foods are actually very good, place is clean with about 10 tables. Service: 5 The staff are from Hoisan and speak English, Hoisanese, Cantonese, and some Mandarin. Very helpful from walking into the restaurant, make sure we get cooler area seating during the heat, actually cater to customers' requests (low salt/oil cooking), follow up to make sure if we need anything, how was the foods, take away plates that are done quickly, checked with customers who are parked outside on the street of parking limits (they have free parking at the back too), even to when we were walking out. One of the superb service which is unusual in many other Chinese restaurants. Their foods are excellent and cannot try everything with just 2 people. Food: 4.5 The honey walnuts shrimp is very good the way it's coated and crispy unlike many others that's overloaded with mayonnaise. The cold steamed chicken is perfectly done too. Very generous ginger sauce too. BBQ Pork Chowmein was done with the type of soft noodles and perfect sauce (not too overwhelming with gravy) that's not on the menu (similar to fried Beef flat rice noodles "guan chow ngow hor" but with sauce. ) We will definitely be going back to try other dishes especially the home made tofu dish and bring some friends.

Jade Wok is your staple neighborhood Chinese restaurant - glad they're still around! We tried the white rice, pan fried string beans, sweet and sour chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything needed a bit more salt / flavor IMO, but it was still delicious over some hot white rice. It was about $60 after tax and tip for those four dishes, pretty good value for the portions as well. I recommend calling ahead if you're ordering to go as they were ready within 15 minutes of me placing a phone order. Keep in mind that there are about two staff members who are answering phones, taking in person orders from diners, bringing out the dishes and bussing them back, so they run a tight ship here and it might be a bit difficult to get their immediate attention. Restroom: Not sure if they have one since I ordered for pick up, but it seems likely that they do. Parking: Metered, street, and I think there's a small lot in the back?

A friend recommended Jade Wok, and I'm so glad I decided to visit! Jade Wok has all-around delicious, authentic Chinese food. The inside is unassuming, but there's plenty of space. I was immediately seated when I entered on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered a variety of dishes to try. The string beans with garlic is a classic dish. I liked the crispiness of the beans, and the garlic flavor was fragrant. The shrimp with pepper salt was phenomenal. Every piece had a flaky exterior with a soft interior. The pepper salt added a nice kick to the shrimp. Jade Wok has a dish called "Homemade Best Tofu in Town." I would have to agree with the name of the dish - it was simply the silkiest, softest, best tofu in Chinatown and probably across Los Angeles. The tofu is freshly made and smothered in a savory, rich sauce. I would come back to Jade Wok solely for this tofu dish. I had such a delicious meal at Jade Wok, and I will definitely be returning in the future for another round of standout dishes!

My friend and I finally tried out Jade Wok, basically the definition of a hole in the wall spot in Chinatown. Parking is hard but the food is well worth it. The Sesame Chicken has excellent flavors, crispy, as well! We did carry out so the house special tofu wasn't quite as crisp but that's on me. Enjoyed the flavors and also the Shanghai Spare Ribs were bomb! From all I've heard these are the 3 main dishes to try here. Now that I've had those and find them absolutely delish, time to move on to me trying more of their items. But get any of those three, and you're in for mouth happiness and your wallet won't be sad either.

Great old school style Chinese restaurant on the edge of Chinatown. Been here twice and the food is so good! Tried the sesame chicken for the first time and it was crisp but tender and a large portion. The "famous" dish is the house special tofu. I don't know what they put in the sauce, but I wish they would bottle it - so good! The people are friendly and check in on you well. I used to live in Chinatown so it's great to see this style restaurant and food back in the old neighborhood. *Tip - The restroom is behind the restaurant and you have to walk through the kitchen and out the back to get to it. Not a big deal. (Also not under the restaurant's control. The building is like that.) It may seem odd to some, but it's about the food for me.

Located just on the edge of Chinatown. Parking available on the street. I noticed a parking lot in the rear but not sure if free. Family owned restaurant and they're super friendly here. Got three dishes (see pics) and all of them were excellent. Their house special tofu is a high light. Never had a tofu dish like this. It's a whole piece of tofu and a sauce that is delicious! Any left over sauce I used it up with a bowl of rice. Definitely get this dish if you come in. I was also impressed with their sesame chicken. It was breaded nicely and was addictive in taste. I kept nibbling on pieces after I was full. Chinatown has changed over the years as it is more gentrified. I'm glad there's still a few places that remind me of the old school Chinatown and this is one of those places. Their food is a good reminder of how good Chinese food was, and still is, in this area.

I visited jade wok a few days ago after a few years and I ordered my all time favorite dishes again.... The special house tofu, Shanghai spareribs and the green beans. The tofu and spareribs tasted just like how I remembered it years ago and the staff still recognized me from many years ago! I hope to visit again more often because it was one of my favorite places to eat with friends and family!
